MEOA STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS 2019
MEOA is proud to provide scholarships in the amount of $750 to six deserving students this year. Last year we had many incredible applicants, so MEOA members, please nominate a deserving student you work with.
Please be sure to review the application materials with your nominee in order to ensure that we receive applications with all of the following completed:
- A nomination form from an MEOA member
- A letter of recommendation from the nominating MEOA member
- The student’s most recent high school or college transcript
- The student’s scholarship application
- The student’s personal essay
- A copy of the student’s 2019-2020 financial aid award letter or 2018-2019 financial aid award letter for returning college students.
- A signed consent and release form.
Applications are due back to me postmarked on or before Friday, May 31, 2019.
The anticipated timeline is as follows: All applications are due on May 31, 2019. The Scholarship Committee members will receive copies of applications and guidelines for selection by June 14, 2019. Committee members will return their completed scoring rubrics to the chair by August 16, 2019. The Chair will tally results (consulting committee members by phone in the event of ties) by August 23, 2019. Scholarship award winners and their MEOA nominators will be notified by September 3, 2019. Applicants who are not selected to receive an MEOA scholarship award will also be notified.
MEOA Scholarship winners will be presented with their award during a ceremony held during the 35th annual MEOA conference at the TENTATIVE location: Red Jacket Resort in South Yarmouth, MA on Fri. October 18, 2019. This awards ceremony is always a very special event during the conference. Award recipients will receive a check on this day of the conference, and it is expected that recipients make every effort to attend this event to receive their award and address the membership.
